Families in Crisis

These "walk-in" services help stabilize families in crisis within BETA Center's safe and friendly environment. Services decrease the immediate crisis and chance for future crisis, help establish self-sufficiency and promote and strengthen healthy family functioning. Our primary emergency services are provided by volunteers who greet families with a warm smile, provide general information and community referrals, conduct non-medical pregnancy testing and make food baskets. Our Emergency Pantry, stocked with non-perishable foods, infant formula and diapers, is largely dependent on donated supplies. Children's clothes and baby equipment and furniture are available, based on donations.

Further Assistance

Often because of the engaging environment created by the volunteers, a client will reveal more about their needs and be referred to a crisis counselor. Volunteers also utilize BETA Center's client tracking to identify those families seeking assistance too frequently, an indicator of an ongoing situation instead of a crisis. Masters level Social Workers and Mental Health Counselors provide Crisis Counseling and Case Management. A crisis counselor will help determine the underlying needs that are not being addressed, and work with the families to explore solutions. Counselors provide case management to support clients as they implement their plan for self-sufficiency.
